I have finished Genesis and am going to hold here until everyone else does. (I started before I put the challenge out there). We have had quite a few questions answered by our resident preacher Keith Tankersley - and hopefully he will be kind enough to answer them again here if the need arises. Invite your friends to join this as well. Hope this works out ok. I am no techi.

  1. Looks good. I already have a blog at this site. Check it out and tell me what you think. I have only posted two blogs so far.

  3. Here were some answers to my questions from Genesis. Gen 4:12-16 - Cain was afraid that he would be killed by others for murder? Who are the others? I have no problem believing that God made others as well, but is there something that says this before these verses?

Guess I missed this challenge! I think what you are looking for in Gen 4 is we do not know how many children or how long this event took place after the fall. Truth be known, we do not even know if children were born to Adam and Eve before the fall? The bible is just not clear on this.
What is your question on Jacob and the wrestling match?
Gen 49 will take probably a phone call, lots and lots there...
Hey, I'm in!Genesis is one of my 66 favorite books of the bible!

Hi Kris, here's some thoughts to chew on about Cain.. His main problem was unbelief. He didn't believe God about giving the right sacrifice, so his was deemed unworthy and unacceptable. He committed murder of the one whose sacrifice was acceptable and then became cursed by God. He became a vagabond nd fugitive and HE thought that people would kill him because of what be became.

God said since you still don't believe I can control the lives of people I'm going to "mark" you so you will continue to live. With that mark, people were not inclined to slay him.

Others--were virtually his kin-folk. The gene pool was not corrupt in those days, and Adam lived to be 930, so he had plenty of sons and daughters. With the pre-flood longevity, who knows how many people lived during these times. Yes, and Cain's wife was his sister!

    Hope this helps..

  6. Genesis 32:24-32 - I heard a preacher preach on this once a few years back and it seemed cool and I got it - Now I can't even remember what the preacher said. And I am not understanding. Can someone tell me what they know or have read or heard about this. I know that Jacob is wrestling God, but I just can't wrap my head around it.

  7. Keith Tankersley commented on June 8: The wrestling match is a picture of Grace & Mercy! Jacob should have died, but instead, he was given a second chance in life (born again if you will allow me)
As for T-Rex... If you look at them scientifically, you might find them to be over sized buzzards. the there senses are remarkably similar to buzzards, which smell dying animals and then feast of the remains.

  8. Keith commented on June 8: No one can or could look upon God and live! Jacob means supplanter or Deceiver. Jacob had ran from everything in life and was in act running even now. When he met the Angel of the Lord he was by himself, put all his family around him, only concerned about saving #1.
He touched the hollow of Jacobs thigh, and he walked differently for the rest of his life. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says they that are in Christ are new creations, former things are passed away, all things are become new.

  9. I just wanted to post some of the comments I got on e-mail to some of my questions. Feel free to ask a question of any verse that you need clarifying. Hopefully someone knows the answer. LOL!

  10. Are the discussions taking place here or only on your email? I would like to be able to join in the discussions, only not sure where to go. Thanks! :)

  11. They were started on e-mail. I sent the e-mail to the people who had responded and then had more people respond. Couldn't figure out how to add new people to that certain e-mail. So my friend Melissa suggested a blog where everyone can participate and so here it is. Discuss away here. I am just waiting for everyone to get here. Thanks for joining Lily!

  13. How are yall doing in Genesis? Everybody getting through it? I started reading it again and have even more questions. I didn't have these questions the first time I read it. What's that all about?

  14. Did you get chance to check out my blog?

  15. I finished Genesis. That lineage stuff can be a little long. I did see God's grace throughout. Too bad we can't anwer all the questions. There just isn't enough info for even the best Biblical scholars. I'm wary of those who claim to have all the answers. Aren't you?

  16. I haven't checked your blog yet, but I will now. Yes, I am wary of people who know all the answers, but it is nice when people know some of them. I believe that we all get something from it - and you sharing what you got helps me see that too. So share away! I think it's funny that I started rereading it and all of a sudden I'm like, "I don't remember that before." Is it my memory? or is God showing me something new...
